Basic Sitter

A Basic Sitter is someone who stays with a person at home to keep them company and make sure they are safe. They don’t usually provide medical care. Their job is to be present, watch over the person, and help with light, everyday things.

Examples of situations where someone may need a Basic Sitter:

  • An elderly parent who lives alone and just needs someone around for safety and companionship during the day.
  • A person recovering from surgery who shouldn’t be left alone but doesn’t need hands-on medical help.
  • Someone with mild memory loss who may forget to turn off the stove or lock doors.
  • A family caregiver who needs a break or has to run errands and wants someone trustworthy to stay with their loved one.

02

Incontinent Care

Incontinent Care is help for someone who has trouble controlling their bladder or bowel movements. A caregiver helps keep them clean, dry, comfortable, and prevents skin problems.

Examples of situations where someone may need this type of care:

  • An elderly person who has bladder leakage or needs help changing adult briefs.
  • Someone with late-stage dementia or Alzheimer’s who can no longer manage bathroom needs on their own.
  • A person recovering from a stroke or major surgery who temporarily cannot get to the bathroom in time.
  • Someone with mobility limitations who cannot walk to the bathroom without assistance.

03

Bedbound Care

Bedbound Care is specialized help for someone who cannot get out of bed on their own. Caregivers assist with everything—from repositioning the person regularly to prevent bedsores, to bathing them in bed, feeding them, and making sure they are comfortable.

Examples of situations where someone may need this type of care:

  • Someone with an advanced illness (like late-stage cancer, ALS, or severe heart failure) who can no longer get out of bed.
  • An elderly person who has become too weak or frail to stand or walk safely.
  • A person recovering from a major surgery who must remain in bed for an extended period.
  • Someone on hospice who needs constant support with comfort and daily care.
